Abstract
Recurrent load shedding forces households to manage limited backup energy while maintaining essential services, controlling unnecessary demand, and remaining aware of the cost implications of grid consumption. This paper presents VoltWise 2.0, a Smart Home Energy Management System developed to support intelligent residential energy use in load-shedding-prone environments. The system integrates a Flutter mobile application, a FastAPI backend, and an SQLite database to provide real-time visibility of household demand, battery condition, grid availability, appliance activity, accumulated energy savings, prepaid electricity status, and residential tariff information.
